Re: Kurt's and other's concerns about copyrighted images on the net.
In browsing the National Library of Medicine's "Images of the History
of Medicine" (approx title), I noted that copyrighted images were
listed and a thumbnail shown with a slash across the image to indicate
to viewers that this image was copyrighted. I liked having knowledge
of the image and felt such a notice gave me the option to seek
copyright permission if I wanted to pursue viewing or using the image.
That much access seemed fair to me and ought to result in more legal
use of the slashed images than if no indication of their existence and
substance were given at all.
I assume the good Dr. Lindberg's staff got legal clearance for this
method of copyright handling. Still, I'll be interested to hear from
the list on this.
