Hi

I have just recently subscribed to this list, and am very impressed by the quality of the information given in response to questions.

I have started a project to digitise the collections of the State Library of Victoria. This will go into the hundreds of thousands over the years. This will include original materials such as paintings of various sizes and medium, original prints, manuscripts, sheet music, playbills, photographs, transparencies, some audio and some 3D objects. All this material is or will be catalogued in our library database (Dynix) and be able to be searched & retrieved on-line as fairly low resolution JPEGs through the WebPac WWW interface to the catalogue. However, we will also retain higher resolution digital files for pre-press publication etc.

I am evaluating different solutions for digitising. I can imagine that there will not be one solution for the variety of material that we hold, but I would be interested to hear from anyone undertaking similar projects about the types of capture equipment and/or processes chosen.

Regards Helen
