A copy/paste from the mission statement: _The Mission of the Center_

The primary mission of the Center is to make available on line to scholars important and needed original source materials from Penn Library's collections, where copyright restrictions allow. These include printed books, manuscripts, photographs, slides, maps, and sound recordings. It is important to underscore the essentially scholarly nature of the Center's orientation. The selection of materials, the manner of their formatting, the structure of their access, and the technical specifications used to reformat will all be shaped by the nature and needs of the Center's principal constituency: the community of scholars at Penn and elsewhere.
