The Research Libraries Group (RLG) would like to announce the release of the second issue of RLG DigiNews, the web-based, quarterly newsletter available at:<http://www.rlg.org/preserv/diginews/>.
As with the first issue, this issue has no viewing restrictions (e.g., one does not have to be an RLG member to access RLG DigiNews) at this time.
The second issue contains two feature articles: "The Cornell Digital to Microfilm Conversion Project: Final Report to NEH" by Anne R. Kenney and "Film Scanning of Newspaper Collections: International Initiatives" by Alan Howell. The technical review section contains "Outsourcing Film Scanning and Computer Output Microfilm (COM) Recording" which provides the results of a survey of service providers who offer conversion between microfilm and digital image files, either as COM recording or microfilm scanning. In addition, the issue provides many pages of relevant web sites, announcements and a calendar of events.
