<pre> The Library of Virginia uses MrSID to display our large format map images.

Examples can be found in our Board of Public Works map collection at http://lvaimage.lib.va.us/BPW/indexes/488-494.html#Maps

Also, we use MrSID to display our Virginia Historical Inventory collection maps, and a sample can be found here:

    http://lvaimage.lib.va.us/cgi-bin/vhip_subjects/vhip.pl?default_x=2055&default_y=2062&res=0&title=Wise+County&size=1&fil name=wis.sid&subject=Dwellings&fullwidth=4147&fullheight=3936&locdesc=25.+Richmond+house

We were able to digitally plot the locations of the surveyed structures into the map interface.

The URL for the database is http://eagle.vsla.edu/vhi

The BPW maps were scanned from large format microfilm and the VHI images were scanned from the original maps.

We have been very pleased with the functionality, price and versatility of the MrSID product. The user is not required to download any special software to view as that is handled on the server side.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

    Elizabeth
