Subject: Kodak Photo CD Portfolio on New York State Historic Maps

I have received a small grant to put together a portfolio of New York State historical maps on Kodak Photo CD. The portfolio will consist of approximately 120 images of maps created prior to 1830. Both the regular Kodak Photo CD and the Pro Photo CD formats will be used. The images will be digitized from 35 mm. slides and 4 x 5 inch transparencies. I plan to offer copies of the portfolio at cost to interested libraries, and will try to make low-resolution images available via the Internet.

I am looking for people or institutions that would be willing to donate or sell at low cost suitable images for digitization. Although the grant provides some money for the purchase of photos, it will not extend far enough to pay for the entire portfolio. Images may be either 35 slides or 4 x 5 transparencies. I am giving preference to images that show all of New York State or large regions within the state. They may also show surrounding states. Of course, institutions will receive acknowledgement in the captions, and a free copy of the digitized map (if I can find a way to get it to you).

If you have any free or low cost slides or transparencies that you might like to see included in the project, please contact me directly.
