Greetings,

I know many of you have enjoyed the respite weve had on the IMAGELIB list the past few weeks. Let me assure you that IMAGELIB is alive and well. I think it was just exhausted and chilled out for a few weeks.

Since we've had so little posted, I decided to take up some bandwidth and invite you to check out some of the new WWW exhibits weve created at the U of Arizona Library. And theres a new feature we are just now adding that I think many of you will find interesting.

First is War Relocation Authority Camps in Arizona, 1942-1945, http://www.library.arizona.edu:80/images/jpamer/wraintro.html, which features images from approximately forty photographs taken for the War Relocation Authority and vividly depicts life in Arizona's two camps.

Another is an Exhibit on the U.S.S. Arizona which Im sure you all know was sunk December 7, 1941 at Pearl Harbor. http://dizzy.library.arizona.edu/images/USS_Arizona/USS_Arizona.html

A new theme project under the umbrella of the Images of the Southwest project is Through Our Parents' Eyes: Tucson's Diverse Community, http://dizzy.library.arizona.edu:80/images/diverse/diverse.html. This exhibit is designed to share the history and experiences of Tucsonans from various ethnic backgrounds in a way that acknowledges our multi-cultural heritage. These exhibits are digital histories, combining historical images and text with stories of Tucson told by some of Tucson's founding members. At this time, we have three exhibits to view: one on Tucsons Chinese Heritage, another on the Hispanic Community, and a third on African-Americans. All, however, will continue to grow as we add new materials.

There is an exhibit on Sabino Canyon which is almost ready for a public link -- but you are welcome to take a look. http:// www.library.arizona.edu/images/sabino/homepage.html. Sabino Canyon is one of my favorite places in Tucson and I think you will enjoy seeing it.
