Whats new? Recently we added a value added product to our library OPAC, the capability to search it via a Web browser. Now we are adding the option to search the librarys information system, SABIO, from these exhibits. For instance, if you go to the page in the USS Arizona exhibit on Internet links, youll find a link to Locate materials in the University of Arizona Library on the _USS Arizona_ and the _Pearl Harbor attack_ (via the UA Library's SABIO system). The underscores show which are the hot links. Finally, we are developing our Congressional Archives starting with the Morris K. Udall collections. Our Library's special collections holds about 1,000 cartons of materials from Mo Udalls life and career. The Spec Colls archivist has completed the finding aid and weve begun building a Web exhibit of it. Its under development right now but you can get a good flavor for it by going to http://dizzy.library.arizona.edu/branches/spc/udall/homepage.html.
A great advantage of being able to search the OPAC via a Web browser is that we can create a bibliographic record (a MARC record) in which we can enter the URL for the Udall exhibit in a particular field (856 field). When you search for information on Mo Udall in the OPAC, the link will appear and you can click it to go from the OPAC to the Web server exhibit. Then you can continue clicking on links to retrieve digital copies of documents. It's a terrific enhancement to delivering information via the library's OPAC.
I'll welcome your input on these exhibits.
Regards and Happy Holidays,
Stuart
