I've learned some stuff already regarding Mac PowerBook 24 bit video out...1) No Mac PowerBook is capable of more than 8 bit video-out without a 3rd party product
2) There are at least a couple of third party products for the 190 and 5300 that do 16 bit video-out, but none that do 24 bit video out. These are not PCMCIA cards. They are small cards that go in an internal expansion slot (PC Card slot?)
3) Due to space limitations, it is not currently cost effective to put the necessary 2Mb of VRAM on a card that fits inside of the 190 or 5300. A downsized VRAM chip is in the works, so there is still hope for the future.
