We are looking for a machine (s) that will scan prints, negatives, and slides and enable us to print images near photographic quality for news media and the general public. Should we be looking for different machines for film vs. prints? Is there one machine that can do all and is in our price range (5 to 10,000)?Basically, we are trying to simplify our lives by taking care of some traffic ourselves rather than funnelling all through photographic labs. Our collection is more than 1 million images, all of The Ohio State University, from the 1870s to the present. It is actively used by the university and by news media, publishers, and the general public.
Those who would like to respond directly to me can do so at mailto:rgoerler@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu. Thanks
We are hoping that others will be able to provide good advice and save us time in dealing with a growing number of vendors. Raimund E.
