There is a scanner from Agfa called the Duo Scan which is in the $5K-$6K range that will scan both transparencies (and negs), as well as prints. It has two beds so you can be scanning prints while you're loading negs, slides, or other transparencies. Resolution is 1000 X 2000 ppi. It will do batch scanning of mixed types and it produces wonderful results with very accurate color (which is adjustable via software). In it's price range, it's an outstanding piece of gear. The only drawback I can see in your situation is the number of images you have to scan. This of course, depends on the amount of time in which you have to complete the task. I don't think you can find a more efficient machine for that price, but you may want to consider multiple units if your deadline is tight. For example, if you have a large number of a certain type of image, say 35mm slides, you may want an additional dedicated slide scanner to increase your overall efficiency. You can do a lot with $10K these days.
Hope this helps.
