Hello Imagelib,

For those of you who will be attending the ALA Midwinter Conference:

The LITA Optical Information Systems Interest Group (OISIG) will be holding a discussion/business meeting at midwinter on Saturday, January 10, 1998, at the Royal Sonesta, Belle Grove room.

We will talk about refocusing this IG, which is currently composed of members who are interested in issues related to digitizing research materials.

The OISIG was formed almost 10 years ago, at a time when many librarians

were interested in the possibilities for scanning images & documents and

using CD based systems for storing and accessing them. Since then, the IG has presented a number of successful programs on various library & archives projects involving digitizing research materials, and has also presented a series of discussions on library web page design. Obviously, CD technology, or optical information systems, have ceased to be the main interest of the group, but interest in digitizing remains strong.

Please join us for a lively discusison, and opportunities for particpation!
