My opinion will probably be a little biased, but I'm quite familiar with the Kofax products. They have boards that will run scanners in the 40-60 image/min range. They also have a low end line. The other side of the coin, is that with SCSI based scanners, you don't need a separate image card, just the imaging software. This is something that Kofax realized a few years ago and have software products as well. As for the Fujitsu scanners, they are amazing. If you keep them clean and adjusted, they will almost go for ever. In my immediate past life (professional), we had a room full of Fujitsu's and Bell & Howell's. Several of the Fujitsu's have scanned over 1,000,000 pages. The reason for the biased opinion is that for several years I/we was/were Kofax's largest customer and have used their products since 1988.
Owen.
