Pardon what may be an incredibly naive question....

The Indiana University School of Law Library is interested in learning about various software packages to help us manage the law school's photography archives. Right now we are using Image Assistant, but we clearly need a more advance package that will allow us greater cataloging capabilities. On the other hand, we are not looking for a top-of-the-line system that a photo. museum might use (our collection is only a few thousand photographs.)

This is the description of what we THINK we are looking for:

--image management software designed to capture, compress and catalog color, gray scale and monochrome digital images.

--images to be cataloged using user defined fields (no less than 10.)

--search capabilities across entire image catalog or limited to a specific field.

--source of input: scanner.

--source of storage: standard PC hard disk or LAN hard disk

If you know of available packages, or can offer us general advise about how we should be attempting this, please contact us directly (as we do not subscribe to this list.)

PLEASE RESPOND TO: mailto:eravenss@indiana.edu

Thanks in advance.
