I have noticed, at several World Wide Web sites, scanned-in images of
visual artworks which are owned by major museums/institutions rather than
the people whose WWW site it is. I understand that the works of museums
fall under either public domain or are copyrighted (depending on when and
where the work was made). But, aren't the reproductions copyrighted? I
was under the impression that one could not simply copy a reproduction
and make it publically available.

Since I am beginning to develop WWW sights myself, I could use some clarification. Thank you! Janet H. Taylor mailto:jhlozik@mailbox.syr.edu
