The stock photo house called "Workbook" has a pretty cool system in place. You must be a subscriber, but once you are it allows you to perform the searches you want. In fact, it maintains a user history for you, so if you go back to the site a few days later it will highlight the images you have already seen. You may want to try to find out more about their custom system. I have not seen any off the shelf solutions that will allow users to save searches or combine with other searches in the way that you describe. If you want that functionality, you may have to do it yourself.
By the way, the workbook site is http://www.workbook.com Also, I am in no way associated with this company, so please, no flames.
