Position Open: Library Technical Assistant IV (2 positions)
The Research Libraries/NYPL Digital Library Program/Digital Imaging Unit
Eligibility Requirements: Bachelor's degree and substantial relevant
experience in a research library or similar institution; or an equivalent
combination of education and experience. Successfully demonstrated working
knowledge of information technologies associated with digitizing books,
documents and visual materials including experience with at least one image
editing software program. Working knowledge of practices and procedures for copy
photography. Demonstrated knowledge of Windows 95/98 and/or Windows NT, the
worldwide web, web browsers and HTML. Demonstrated understanding of
bibliographic control issues within a large research library environment
preferred. Knowledge of library preservation issues and successfully
demonstrated experience handling rare and fragile materials preferred.
General Description: Under the supervision of the Head of the Digital Imaging
Unit, performs digital capture of textual and visual materials following
specifications supplied by the Head. Assists with material preparation, quality
control, documentation and workflow. Coordinates with departmental managers in
implementation of digital capture projects. Assists in the receiving and
returning of materials to and from collection units. Processes and prepares
digital files for archiving, printing and access purposes. Performs related
duties as needed.
Available: Immediately
Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Evenings and Saturdays as required.
Schedule subject to change.
Salary: $29,024
