I don't think FileMaker is going to be able to do what you want it to
here. Generally, better quality can be achieved by generating thumbnail
images outside of FileMaker with an image processing program (e.g.,
Photoshop, DeBabelizer, ImageMagick, Graphic Converter). FileMaker is only
doing a quick and dirty job of scaling your images down. Once you've made
thumbnail files, you'll need another FileMaker container field to hold
them, and you'll need to import them all. I generally don't store image
files within FileMaker. Sometimes I include just thumbs. Other programs
(e.g., Cumulus) have better functionality for including and managing image
files. FileMaker is stronger with the descriptive data I think. Of course
it depends on what your up to.
