Publish Magazine has an excellent overview of Image Management databases in the February 1997 issue (page 64). I get the hard copy in the mail, but they post the articles to their Web site at www.publish.com so you can check there. --Chris Orr Info Specialist Addison Wesley Publishing>>> Paul Hillier <mailto:hillier@ARCH.VUW.AC.NZ> - 1/15/97 11:41 AM >>>
Hi there allI have just taken up a position as photographer, at a School of Architecture and have be given the job of trying to sort out, some sort of system or archiving the existing and new slide collections.
The current situation is:- several large filing cabinets full of slide sheets of 24 slides per sheet, some of the slides have details on but the majority don't. The first task we have is to cull slides, that have no significant value and then to sort the rest into some sort of searchable database. Eventally we would like to have low res images to search and view, with a referrence to the location of the original image.
We have a Nikon LS 1000 slide scanner with a SF-100 auto slide feeder, access to a CD writer and a very good computer network within the school.
Does anybody have any suggestions for databases (for architectural subjects), programmes to help make this task easier or acheivable?
