Hello,

I would like to get in contact with someone who can offer advice on scanning (w/OCR) a large volume of small pieces (e.g., 3X5 index cards). The project under consideration would involve scanning 25,000 typed cards containing entymological terms/topics. Entries for each card are quite short, 2-3 lines and 25-50 characters each.

I'd appreciate any help, but am specifically interested in specs for a scanner/software that would be suited to this project; alternatives to photocopyiing cards prior to scanning; cost comparisons for hand-keying vs. scanning.

Please respond to me directly and I can summarize for the list. ---------------------- Stacey Kimmel 919.515.1624 fax: 919.515.7854 mailto:stacey_kimmel@ncsu.edu ------------
