MONUMEDIA 1998, Naples, 14 - 17 May 1998Following the success of MONUMEDIA 97 in Naples in October / November 1997 (as part of the already established annual Corto Circuito Festival), Officine Solari in association with the Ministry for Culture and Heritage, the Naples City Council and the Regional Department for the artistic and historical heritage in Naples are now finalising plans for MONUMEDIA 1998 as a stand-alone international Festival which will take place at the same time as the Naples "Monuments in May" festival.
An important feature of MONUMEDIA 98 will again be a cross section of multimedia CD-ROM titles (building on the success of this feature last year) and Web sites relating to : European Museums European Modern and Contemporary Art European Modern and Contemporary Architecture Restoration work on European cultural monuments
A series of workstations will be available to enable the public to look at the materials.
IVAIN (the International Visual Arts Information Network) which compiles and publishes the ITEM knowledge base on WWW has been invited to make a selection of up to 20 CD-ROMs and 20 WWW sites from across the whole of Europe, in each of the 4 categories,
IVAIN would welcome suggestions as to the most exciting and innovative CD-ROMs and WWW sites and invites you and your colleagues to e-mail your nominations to Jeremy Rees, IVAIN at mailto:ivain@ecna.org.
The information should include the title and publisher of CD-ROMs and the URL of WWW sites and should reach IVAIN before 29 January 1998.
We hope that you will take this opportunity of drawing attention to what you consider to be the best CD-ROMs and WWW sites relating to these aspects of European culture.
The complete list of suggestions received will be posted (unattributed) for full public access on the ITEM WWW site in mid February <http://item.suffolk.ac.uk>, together with further information about MONUMEDIA 98.
Apologies for any cross posting
Jeremy Rees
