Digital Library Database Manager

Exciting opportunity for a Database Manager to manage a small team of programmers to design, develop, produce and maintain Oracle databases to support innovative, multi-media web-based Digital Library. BA or higher in computer science with specialization in databases. Strong programming skills in SQL, Oracle 8. Interest in natural history preferred. Knowledge/experience in digital libraries desirable. Excellent benefits. Digital Library Systems Manager

Exciting opportunity for a Unix systems manager looking for work on an innovative web-based digital library application in an academic environment . Responsible for the planning, installation, configuration and maintenance of Sun servers for the Digital Library Project. Will manage security, backup, troubleshooting and support issues. Knowledge of Unix system administration with an avocational interest in natural history preferred. BA or higher in engineering or computer science required. Excellent benefits. Reference Librarian will provide reference services & support research for Museum staff & the public, propose policies, train/supervise paraprofessional staff in reference and circulation. Successful candidate will have an MLS, science background preferred. Commitment to public services considered important, experienced with bibliographic records with special emphasis on rare books, good computer, research, communication & interpersonal skills. The successful candidate has an MLS in Library or Information Science, minimum 5 years of progressively more responsible administrative and supervisory experience in an academic library, demonstrated record of professional leadership, commitment to public services including outreach, 2nd degree desirable (science or natural history preferred), good communication, interpersonal & managerial skills.
