Dear Charles,
I saw and spoke to the owner of Jumbo Scan at Photokina in Colon 2 years
ago. He need has an intriguing device but at that time had only one
customer in Isreal. He was also reluctant to warranty the product in
the U.S. You may want to get on to www.academicimaging.com and look up
Metis DMC 1015. This a an entire system of specialized equipment,
optics, lighting and easel, goes well beyond what Jumbo was offering. To
date, there have been ano installs in the U.S., but about 4 units are
installed in Italian museums and institutions and 3 in Japan. The Metis
can produce up to 4.3 GB files in TIFF format in a single scan without
interpolation. Metis is based in Rome and has made a full commitment to
support and warrant their aproduict in the U.S.
Academic Imaging Associates is their authorized North American
representative, and we have a sample CDs and literature we can send you.
Please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
Yours truly,

Subject: Jumbo Scan
Is anyone familiar with Jumbo Scan, a 12,000 pixel planetary scanner
produced by Lumiere Technology, a French firm. I would appreciate
hearing
from anyone that has some knowledge of this scanner. The business has a
Web
site - www.jumboscan.com .The unit looks intriguing, but I can't find
anyone
who has used it for scanning work.
