This comment is completely off-base for people interested in continuous-tone imaging. Photographic skills are quite important in this domain, and automatic brightness and contrast settings frequently require compensation. This points out the problem with having a listserve that serves both people interested in document imaging and those interested in continuous-tone imaging. If we have one listserve serving both communities, we need to be careful to isolate questions/answers that are relevant to both communities from those relevant to just one of those communities.
