Yesterday I posted a message regarding a draft of the data elements for a directory listing current image databases. (Incidentally, I've gotten some very good suggestions on it already.) And I mentioned that we'd be housing that directory online on our gopher server.
I've been in touch with members of the ALA committee that has been compiling a list. This is the com. that Pamela Mason mentioned and precipitated the avalanche of requests on the list asking for a copy. I also emailed Pamela on July 1st to see if she'd like to add that list to our Imagelib clearinghouse. I emailed her again yesterday about this, also asking if she's been responding to the messages requesting her list. My guess is that she's not been online--probably on vacation. I'm sure this will move forward. I was in contact with someone else on that committee last spring so plans for Imagelib and the Clearinghouse have been known.
How about this for the time being. Let's put a hold on the requests being posted to the list for Pamela's list? Give me a few weeks to compile the online version and post the final data elements element. Through this listserv, we have already identified a lot of projects.
