As the question of OCR quality has come up on SHARP-L and
IMAGELIB recently, I thought it might be helpful to point out
that some sample scans of different typefaces (a digital image of
the page plus the results of the OCR scan) are available from the
Electronic Text Center at the University of Virginia. Use a
World Wide Web client to connect to the following address:

http://www.lib.virginia.edu/etext/scan-train.html

This document is part of a larger cluster of etext-related materials at the following address:

http://www.lib.virginia.edu/etext/ETC.html

If you connect to the main Etext Center homepage you can find the scanning information under "About Training and Users", then "Documentation from specific training sessions." then "Examples of Optical Character Recognition output".
