Hi, I posted a news yesterday on the net concerning the help to locate the ftp
site for image processing package. I forgot to mention that I will use the
package to compress and decompress the scanned documents. It seems to me
that cjpeg/djpeg designed by the Tom Lane is good for photorealistic image,
but not good for scanned documents. So what is the best freeware for the
scanned documents?

What I need is a package with compression and decompression capability along with a viewer. I hope it is compatible with Microsoft graphics and could be easily or directly portable to HP machine. I also hope the package come with source code so that I could integrate it with my applcation.

Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
