If I understand you correctly, you are first saving to MO and then backing up via network to a different MO. There's numerous potential reasons for "the slows". I'll offer some suggestions but it would also be helpful to know some more about your situation: What's your workflow ? Are you scanning or capturing high res files directly to the first MO ? What type and brand of MO are you using ? How large are your files ? Is your network Localtalk or Ethernet ? How many nodes ? If you have alot of nodes, do you have a dumb hub, switched hub, etc ? Are you using a hub at all (I'm assuming 10BaseT or are you using thin net ?). In the meantime, here are some suggestions and/or considerations: 1. Scanning or capturing to a hard disk will be much faster than to an MO 2. If you must scan or capture (or back up, for that matter) to an MO, use 1024K sector media which is faster than 512K sector for large file sizes (files over 1 MB). 3. If your network is Localtalk, you can increase your throughput about 10 fold by going to ethernet. If you already have ethernet and it's still too slow, consider connecting your MO directly to your storage machine. The SCSI connection will be much faster. 4. Another option is to use backup software that allows unattended backup (like Retrospect) so you can back up after hours and not interrupt your daily work flow.

Hope this helps.
