A belated reply to this query on search engines:At the William Blake Archive (<http://www.iath.virginia.edu/blake/>), we use DynaWeb software from Inso corporation both to convert our SGML files to HTML for web delivery and to support text and image search and retrieval. If you visit our About the Archive wing of the site, you'll find collateral documentation on our SGML-encoded illustration descriptions and characteristic terms (which the search engine consults to return hits on image queries) and our use of DynaWeb:
Technical Summary of the William Blake Archive: <www.iath.virginia.edu/blake/public/about/tech/>
Tour of the William Blake Archive: <http://www.iath.virginia.edu/blake/public/about/tour/tour.html>
Help Documentation: <http://www.iath.virginia.edu/blake/help/help.html#3c>
You can also find out more about DynaWeb from Inso's homepage: <http://inso.com/>
And finally, from the WBA pages you can learn about our use of IATH-developed image-annotation software: INOTE
Nice to see a fellow Rochesterian on the list!
