Hi All, In my investigations I've discovered RF Tags - Radio Frequency Tags.. cost approx $ 1 Aus per tag but they can double as a security device, and they're about the size of a finger tip.

e.g. Here are some of the tags features below from the pinpoint group... can be picked up at 200 feet from a 3D-iD Antenna... phew,
    'mazing.

Is anyone using these in the US?

PINPOINT Tags The 3D-iDŽ Tags are attached to valuable assets, inventory, or personnel. The Tag receives 2.4GHz spread spectrum radio signals from the 3D-iDŽ system's Antennas and responds with a 5.8GHz signal that includes Tag identification data. The Tags are designed around PinPoint's proprietary L3RF
(Long Range, Long Life, Low Cost Radio Frequency) technology. As a result, 3D-iDŽ Tags can be
read at long ranges (up to 200 feet) compared to conventional RFID
(Radio Frequency IDentification) systems while exhibiting a long battery life at a reasonable cost.

    Tag features and benefits
Large Tag Quantities Supported Hundreds of tags can be read while in the range of a
single Cell Controller. Low Maintenance The Tag is low powered (less than 0.5 mWatts) to allow for continuous
operation for more than a year without changing batteries. Depending upon the customer's
requirements, the battery life can be as great as five years. Cost Savings The tags are very economical for locating, tracking, and securing high-value
assets and personnel. The customer will see a quick return on the initial investment.
Application Specific Packaging Currently, the tags are available in either fixed-asset
packages or as Personnel badges. In its asset form, the Tag can be mounted on flat or curved surfaces. As a Personnel badge, the Tag accepts a standard CR-80 ID photograph and can be worn with a lanyard or clipped to a pocket or belt.

Long Range Tags can transmit and receive signals at distances of up to 200 feet from a
3D-iD Antenna. Low Battery Signal The tag transmits a Low-Battery signal well before battery replacement is required. A Low Battery report can be generated at any time.Call Button Available with the Personnel Badge, when pressed, the call button generates asystem alert. The alert lets the system know that inventory replenishment is needed, assistanceis required, or a task has been accomplished.Anti-Tamper Mechanism Available with the Asset Mount, the anti-tamper mechanism deters theft and vandalism by alerting the system that Tag has been removed from mount or mount
has been removed from Asset. Data Up-link Tags include a serial data port. The port can be used in custom applications toup-link data such as equipment statuses, rates, alarms or diagnostics from the Tag to thesystem.

    Keeping you informed.
