Greetings! I am an educational technology consultant for the Ateneo de Manila University here in the Philippines. We would like to create a digital photo archive of historical Filipino photos. I have some questions here to ask (hoping some of you can help out): 1. What is the best storage medium to use? CD-ROM or optical disk? I have heard stories that CD-Roms are on their way out and optical disks are the way to go. Is that true? What are the pros and cons of using optical drives vs. cd's? 2. What software can we use to index our photos by subject, keywords, photographer, description, etc. In the end, I would want the CD to be distributed to universities here and abroad (therefore, a free runtime is needed). Any suggestions? 3. What software can we use to be able to zoom in on the picutres without pixelization? The pictures should still be clear when zoomed in on. If this is the case, should JPEG compression still be used on pictures since JPEG actually is a lossy form of compression? Thanks a lot! I'm sure you're answers will be a great help in our project.
