What are you going to use the end result for/in. If you are going to be using them for the web then I would suggest a 5 x 7 inch size as on the web you probably wouldn't display a larger image size than that. If it's for *other* uses like archives and/or higher quality uses then I'd suggest two things:

1. Have the negatives scanned onto a Photo CD. You'll get five different resolution files on each negative so you'll be set up for all size end uses.

2. Get a 35 mm film scanner. We use the Minolta Quickscan to very good results.

Film has much more information in it than a print does, and you lose that when you scan from a print.

Are you going to be saving both the TIFF and the JPEG formats. If you only save the JPEG then you will be throwing away a lot of information as you probably know JPEG is a lossy compression algorithm.
