is I think the operative goal. Let each do what it does best and then connect them via the web or protocol. In regards to others: After AXSPRO and Cumulus there are several image centric dbs which are more specialized such as for museums - Embark, DAS or ReDiscovery, Advanced Computer Consulting Services, Inc, David L. You might want to check an article I did for INFORMATIONWEEK - 11/25/96 for a not bad overview of an entire system "in to out" as there are some more web sites etc listed there.
