> The Image Directory is an online union catalog of information on art images from more than 100 museums and collections
around the world. The Directory gives the user complete information including title, artist, date, medium, materials, di ensions, and, in some cases, a low-resolution image. Full contact information is listed so that users can obtain rights nd reproduction information from the image provider. > Several features are provided to help a user find the image he or she is looking for. Links to the Getty Information I
stitute s Union List of Artist Names. and its Art & Architecture Thesaurus provide comprehensive, standardized informa ion on artists names and art and architecture terms. Another useful feature is the Times and Places page. Maps and time ines taken from Gardner s Art through the Ages allow a user to explore the geographic, historical, and political context in which a given art work was created. Finally, users are able to save records with a feature called My Collection. Thi tool allows images selected during one session to be saved for retrieval in a subsequent session.
