I received the literature on the PS7000 and also spoke with a vendor selling the Minolta scanners at the MARAC conference. The vendor said the 7000 model has the same features as the 3000 (bitonal w/ text/grayscale/photo settings), but has a larger image capture area for oversized materials, can go up to 600 dpi, and has a book cradle for tight bound books. Apparently Minolta is doing away with the EPICWIN software; the 7000 model will operate via TWAIN into Photoshop or some other image editing programs (the demise of the EPICWIN software is a bit of a downer for me; I liked it for the batch scanning; it just needed tweaking in image editing controls and file naming conventions).
I haven't heard anything about the 3rd party board for the 3000.
