SOLINET, Inc., the Southeastern Library Network, is pleased to
     announce the following workshop:

***********DIGITAL IMAGING: PRESERVATION ISSUES**************** The increase in digital imaging projects for library and archival collections raises many issues related to selection, resource allocation, and long-term access (preservation). This two-day workshop provides an introduction to the technology of digital imaging and addresses the following questions: What collections or resources are appropriate for digital conversion? How will digital files be maintained? Who is responsible for ensuring future access to this digital information? Is future access necessary? Through lecture, discussion and case studies participants will gain the tools needed to make informed decisions about imaging project planning.

The instructors are Faye Phillips, Assistant Dean of Libraries for Special Collections, and Charles Thomas, Archivist, both of Louisiana State University.

The two-day workshop will be held at the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL on Thursday-Friday, July 22-23, 1999 from 9am - 4pm.

Cost is $155 SOLINET members ($145 early bird, $180 late registration); $215 Non-SOLINET members and FEDLINK ($205 early bird, $240 late registration). Any institution within Florida qualifies for the member rate.
