My library is looking for a dye sublimation color printer for printing slide images from its Slide Image Database. We are considering two models: Shinko CHC-S445-5 and Tektronix Phaser 440. Has anyone had any experience of using either of the models? Are their performance and output satisfactory? The Shinko model comes with 9MB RAM and 100MB Hard disk memory and the supplier claims it can do 4-color printing without the need of extra RAM. Will the printing speed be slow then? And Shinko supports SCSI interface without network options while Tektronix has the ethernet options. Can the Shinko model perform more slowly on a network environment than the Tektronix then? Please share with me your experience. Thank you.Lisa Kwan Projects Librarian The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Library mailto:lblisak@hkpcc.hkp.hk
