The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is considering
imaging as a way to store and make available documents we
now have only on paper. Some of these, such as survey
monument location drawings, are frequently used and are
deteriorating. This project would most likely be
Department-wide, rather than limited to some division or a
few divisions of the Department.

This may well turn out to be a large project: one division estimated that the documents it manages would require about 200 Gbytes initially, and growth would be about 50 Gbytes per year.

We are interested in solutions found by people in the "real world" (and by folk in other governments, for that matter) to this problem. Responses by E-mail will be greatly appreciated.
