I need to fix or replace a dithering routine that converts a grayscale image to bilevel tiff. The routine works great for smoothly graded images but loses it on large areas of black or white, converting one to the other. So either the algorithm is flawed or the implementation is flawed, and I don't understand the magic involved enough yet to fix it.Not having much luck webbing or gophering to find some sample source or papers on the topic. Book recommendations or source available to ftp would be wonderful. I'd be happy enough with a straightforward code snippet that implemented Floyd-Steinburg dithering. Thanks in advance!
