We are preparing a technology demonstration of a new, high-speed, low-cost
method of scanning legacy paper bibliographic card catalogs (some of you
remember them!). This approach by no means constitutes a product or a
product development effort. It might best be labeled a very promising idea
without funding or development partners!

We are looking to prepare a test deck which contains as wide an assortment of card types as possible, with an emphasis on low legibility, hand annotated, well-worn cards. This is to focus the demonstration on issues of image quality for difficult items.

If you can contribute 10 cards (up to 100 if you believe them to have high interest and variety by our criteria) on a permanent basis from your discarded card collection, we would be most appreciative. Our postal address is below.

Please do not send cards you must have back, unless you speak to us first!

Please send an indication as to whether you wish to have your organization's contribution of cards to this demonstration recognized publicly or kept confidential. Our intention is to place some of all of the captured images on our web site as part of a discussion of the proposed approach.

We thank you in advance for any assistance you might be able to provide!

Lou
