After seeing YR's question . . .
(Has anyone ever scanned microfiche (24X reduction) with any success on a
flatbed scanner ?)
. . . I gave it a try on my Microtek Scanmaker III with transparency
adapter. The section I tried was about 3 x 1/2 inches.. even up to 4000
pixels per inch it was blurred. I just couldn't get the fiche flat enough.
Even so, the file size was 88 megs, whew!
A new model flatbed (Microtek, I think) allows removal of the glass
bed. Films load in a tray so the film itself becomes the scan target, and
you can probably work at much smaller file size. I don't know if the trays
will accept fiche sized film.
