Hello!

I am an intern at the Department of Conservation of the George Eastman House in Rochester, New York. During preparations for a project on the identification and preservation of digital hard copies, I have come across some questions regarding scanner light sources, mainly: - What constitutes the light of a typical flatbed desktop scanner? - If and how does this light affect a light sensitive object such as a photograph? Is the duration of exposure too short or is the light intense enough? - How could measurements best be made?

If anybody has experience in this area or could give me a hint on where to find more information concerning this, I would be very grateful. As yet I have found it very difficult to encounter detailed information or studies on this topic.

Many thanks!
