Dear Colleagues,
Many of you may have some familiarity with the Art Institute of
Chicago's Cleopatra: A Multimedia Guide to Ancient Art project. This
is an interactive touchscreen program located in our galleries.
Cleopatra showcases 18 objects from our collection, six each of
Roman, Greek and Egyptian art using simple navigational features such
as maps, timelines, object viewers and an audio-based glossary. 65
two minute full-screen videos are also served by the users choice and
the program is fully bilingual, English and Spanish.
We have been working to port Cleopatra to the Web, which we should
complete this summer. We have also enhanced the program with 135
downloadable curricula-based lesson plans for K-12 in five subject
areas.
We are looking for testers that could log on during our evaluation
period, which should run about six weeks starting in late April.
This will be a limited password protected test site for students,
educators and museum professionals.
If you are interested in testing Cleopatra for us please send your
email address to Eva Egensteiner <mailto:eegensteiner@artic.edu> and she
will put you on the list to receive the password when we are ready to
go live. We ask that you fill-in a very simple on-line evaluation
form (10 minutes required) at the end of your test sessions.
We hope that you can find time to test and comment upon our project.
Thanks,
Alan
