In sum, the project incorporates:
19,791 pages of formal scientific and conservation publications
(imaged, transcribed and marked up in XML using our=20
project-designed DTD)
16,352 specimen records from of field notes (imaged and transcribed),
33 African maps & a GIS viewer
2,000+ photographs
56 watercolors
film/video
biological and anthropological sound recordings
vertebrate specimen data.
Through detailed agreements with the AMNH Anthropology Division, data and=20
images of artifacts (captured over the past 10 years with the support of=20
NEH) are integrated directly from the AMNH Anthropology collections=20
databases)=85
AMong collateral scientific benefits: capture of more than 6,000=20
ornithology specimen records (previously unavailable) and transcription of=
=20
anthropology and ichthyology field notes previously unavailable to those=20
research departments
To get at the imagebase -- and many more images than those presented in the=
=20
"Gallery"
need to search at: <http://diglib1.amnh.org/cgi-bin/database/index.cgi>
Again feedback and comments are welcome.
