I have looked into the issue of CD recordables as I had some funds to
buy one this year. It may be helpful for you to know why we decided not
to. A number of different sources have indicated that the price of these
machines will be coming down signficantly in the near future. A few
years ago a CD writer would have cost you $30,000. Now to get quality
you will end up paying between $6000 and $7000 (at least that was the
situation when I looked into this in November). An Apple rep told me
recently that the company would be coming out with a CD writer for under
$2000 by the end of the year. I don't know if this is fact, but other
info has convinced me that the price will be coming down significantly
soon.
