Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation

Special Issue on "Image Technology for World-Wide-Web Applications"

With the massive creation and dissemination of visual information on-line, digital image technologies are playing an increasingly important role in sustaining the success and impact of the World Wide Web and the Internet. Large-scale development and deployment of advanced Internet applications using multiple media (including image, audio, video, graphics, and text) rely on the advancement of various disciplines of image technology. This timely special issue will provide a platform for discussion and presentation of outstanding work in digital image technology, which will advance Internet/WWW to the next-generation multimedia era.

Original papers are solicited in, but not limited to, the following areas:

. Search and Authoring Tools and Systems for Internet Images/Video . Techniques for Image Watermarking and Copyright Protection . Real-Time Audio/Video Streaming over Internet . Multimedia on Demand Systems and Applications over Internet . Distributed Collaborative Environment Supporting Real-Time Audio/Visual Applications over WWW . Image Classification and Management Standards . Emerging Image and Video Standards (such as JPEG-2000, Flashpix, MPEG-4, MPEG-7, IETF A/V Control Protocol) . Audio/Image/Video Transmission Protocols for the Internet . Distributed Multimedia Service/Object Models . Digital Image/Video Libraries
