    <pre> Dear Imagelibbers,

    Some scans of engravings seems to have a diffraction grating-like effect. Note the reddish and greenish colored areas on the buildings in the image at (file =
    ~250 KB)

    <http://www.bibliographics.com/AMMAN/LS-1.htm>

    Is this a scanner or a scanning artifact? Or is it a sign that my scanner is about to give up the ghost? If not -
         what am I doing wrong?
         what can I do to prevent this, other than scanning as grayscale image?

    Many thanks, D. Fowler
