Greetings to those on IMAGELIB who have inquired about VRA-L:VRA-L is the listserv sponsored by the International Visual Resources Association. VRA has over 700 members in the U.S. and 20 other countries including slide and photograph curators, film and video librarians, media professionals, photo archivists, slide and microform producers, rights and reproduction officials, photographers, art historians and others concerned with visual materials. A large number of our members are professionals associated with universities and museums, but our membership also includes slide and software vendors.
VRA is a not-for-profit organization incorporated in 1982 in the state of Missouri. In addition to VRA-L, the Visual Resources Association sponsors an annual conference, the quarterly VRA Bulletin, a Members' Directory, and several Special Bulletins concerning topics such as management of Visual Resources collections, cataloging authority lists, and standard abbreviations for image descriptions. VRA also sponsors Visual Resources: An International Journal of Documentation, published by Gordon & Breach.
The next VRA Annual Conference will be held in San Antonio, TX January 25-29, 1995 and includes several sessions and workshops of interest to those interested in visual resources technologies as well as other topics such as cataloging special collections and tips for beginning curators.
