A recent test in MacUser (Nov. 1994, pg. 72-81) compared the speeds of four computers running Photoshop --an interesting article with lots of information. One of the writer's contentions was that Photoshop required workstations to have RAM equal 3X to 5X the size of the files most commonly used. None of the machines tested had less than 72mb RAM.I am looking for some information about using Photoshop on a Pentium (60 or 66 MHz). --Are machines of this type, using Photoshop, processing image files in the 18 - 20mb range running successfully with as little as 32mb RAM? --Is 70ns RAM fast enough? --What are other major harware variables?
I realize that a lot of this is subjective. If one person doesn't mind waiting 180 seconds for a process that would drive another person batty after 60 seconds then the same computer could be both fine and much too slow depending on who is using it. I am hoping that someone on the list who has some experience using Photoshop on a Pentium machine can provide some real-world input.
