Jennifer, I as well as several other people have recommended this book as a starting point for dealing with scanning: Real World Scanning and Halftones by David Blatner and Steve Roth Published by Peachpit ress 1/800/283/9444Best no nonsense book on the subject I have read particularly in the area of understanding resolution and dynamic range. They also have done a good job of explaining the PhotoCD format. Hope this helps Stan shockey University of Wahington Seattle
